About Root Care
Root Care exists because mold-related illness is common, serious, and routinely missed. We are building a clearer path from unexplained symptoms to real answers, starting with CIRS and mold exposure.
Why we exist
Standard medicine is built for single, obvious problems. It is much weaker at the slow, multi-system illness that a water-damaged building can cause in susceptible people. People spend years being told their labs are normal while they feel anything but. We think that gap is fixable, and worth fixing.
What we are building
Root Care is in early development. Today you can take a free risk check and join the waitlist. What we are building behind it is a clear process: at-home testing for the markers routine care skips, a plan built with a mold-literate clinician, and ongoing support between appointments.
How we write
We write from published research and reputable health authorities, cite our sources, and say plainly when the evidence is limited or contested. Nothing here is medical advice.
In practice that means we separate what is well supported from what is still contested, we link to primary sources and health authorities, and we would rather say "the evidence is limited here" than oversell. This field has enough hype already.
Who is behind it
Niko Hems is the founder of Root Care. He writes about prevention, environmental health, and why conventional medicine so often misses the root causes of chronic illness. Root Care's articles aim to be evidence-based and honest about what is still uncertain. They are not a substitute for medical care.
A note on medical advice
Root Care's content and risk check are for information only. They are not a medical diagnosis and not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are unwell, speak to a qualified clinician.
